They were once Numen who feasted upon the power of the Luminos, and found themselves twisted and changed into something sinister and twisted. Fighting an unnamed war amongst themselves, the Incarnates eventually lost and were driven into hiding by their people. What remains of the numen are now known as the Watchers, Listeners, and similar groups that guard the High Ones so that nothing like the incarnates may ever rise again. Each high one represents some negative aspect, and they all feature an aspect and name a single champion with several lieutenants at any given time. They can still pass for human under some circumstances, despite their monstrous nature.
Later on, the Dawnborn defeated them again in the War of Dawn and Dusk, which they used to conquer and enlighten Eos. Only Razikale remained undefeated, as she went into hiding when she realized they were bound to lose.
Known Incarnates include:
Razikale, the Lady of Obsession. Her follows serve in the Cult of the Mirror
Urthemiel, the sire of Undeath. His followers serve the Lich Queen Freyalise in Lathyrus.
Toth, the Lord of Wrath. His followers serve in the Cult of the Rook.
Lusacan, the Lord of Rage. His followers serve Nagasha and the Dragon Empire. The most powerful incarnate on Alderwyl.
Zazikel, ??? Cult of the Storm?
Dumat, ??? Cult of Blood?
Andoral, ??? Cult of Perfection?
Lusacan was chained up in the area called Lusacan’s Fall, no big shock. It was mentioned in the Alderwyl region guide that the Dragon Empire has that entire area well fortified.
Malphas Binds the Incarnates
Malphas encountered many of the Incarnates feasting upon the Luminos at once and bound them all in a permanent time-stop spell. This has more or less saved the world since he did it. Given that they seem impossible to permanently kill, this was a very smart thing to do.
While reaching for the light of the Luminos through the roots of the Twinslove Woods, Toth noticed Malphas attempting to trap him and began to flee, causing him to be only mostly trapped in time. His mind was free to think and he managed to leak much of his essence out through the roots.
To contain the Incarnates, Malphas used thousands of tenth level protection spells featuring the following rune. It originally glowed RED BLACK BLUE PURPLE YELLOW ORANGE GREEN. However, since we severed a root connecting to the shield wall, green has vanished and Toth seems to be liberated now that no part of him is connected to the spell. The rune seems to vastly increase the caster’s AC in the same way that shield does, and disintegrates any material object on contact with it. It is a 10th level spell.
